Energy for Sustainable Development

ESD Biomass has signed a Letter of Intent with npower renewables to provide 30,000t/yr of willow coppice as energy crops to Didcot power station. Deliveries will start in 2009.

ESD Biomass is offering two contracts for the growing of 3,300ha of energy crops. One is based on a £/t payment, and the other is based on a £/ha/yr payment.

There will be a meeting at Didcot power station on Wednesday 8th December. Numbers will be limited. Invitations are available on request - please contact, and ask.

Energy crops are an exciting development in the continuing diversification of agriculture as they provide the basis for a sustainable low carbon energy supply. Co-firing provides an early, secure opportunity to develop biomass for this market.
